Fourth edition of the Constructive Journalism Fellowship launched

Now in its fourth year, the Constructive Journalism Fellowship, a collaboration between the Bonn Institute and Deutsche Welle, focuses on how can journalism needs to evolve in times of crisis and disinformation.

Constructive Journalism Fellows 2026

The 2026 cohort of Constructive Fellows started their multi-month training program at the Bonn Institute. The fellowship program, implemented in partnership with German international public broadcaster Deutsche Welle, supports journalists from around the world who are working to apply constructive, solutions-oriented approaches to their journalism.

The program builds on Deutsche Welle's strategic goal of producing coverage that is more solutions-oriented, includes diverse perspective and fosters constructive discussion. Its aim is to develop content that provides real value to audiences and helps them navigate an increasingly complex news environment.

Against the backdrop of global crises, rising disinformation and changing media consumption habits, this approach is becoming ever more important. The fellowship offers participants the opportunity to experiment with new formats and further develop constructive reporting.

Despite current challenges in the media industry, Deutsche Welle continues to invest in the future of journalism and in the development of international talent.
